Thoughts and Encouragements: Personal and intercessory prayer will remain invaluable throughout our lives as we grow in our relationship with God. However, there is another kind of prayer that brings special strength to our spiritual life and becomes an essential part of the devotion of all who earnestly seek God’s face – corporate prayer.
Fellowship plays a crucial role in the life of a Christian. Community dynamics provide a platform for spiritual growth that we cannot experience individually. The community accepts, encourages, inspires, teaches, and corrects us when we go astray. Through participation in corporate prayer, we can uniquely experience God’s power.
The Gospel of Matthew states:
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:19-20)
Dallas Willard speaks about the power of community and says:
“The salvation described in the New Testament involves a significant amount of power over evil, both individually and collectively in the Church. This power, according to the New Testament, is located in the body of redeemed, spiritually revived people.”
Corporate prayer propels believers into a new spiritual dimension. Through it, those who pray and exercise spiritual authority experience many victories.
Someone once said: “To pray is to change.” Personal, intercessory, and corporate prayer are the means through which God brings transformation—first within each individual, then within our families, communities, and society.
Prayer Points:
Let us pray that churches and communities across our nation develop a deeper culture of corporate prayer and experience God’s power.
Let us pray that through corporate prayer, hearts will be transformed, deliverance will come, and spiritual revival will sweep through our land.
