For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths. Proverbs 5:21
"Unfortunately, you have not been arrested." - said the young Journalist and continued - "We did this just to show that you are doing this." The camera then focused on the face of the "seller" of the Medical School diploma. Surprise and concern could be seen on his face. Looking into the distance testified to an uncertain future. He thought that no one could see or know.
How many times will these and similar crimes happen before and how many times will they happen after this without the camera recording them?
This saying has great theological weight because it speaks of God's omnipresence. Maybe the thought that there is someone who sees everything and knows everything is, in the beginning, a little scary and worrying, but it doesn't have to be like that. God's omnipresence is a guarantee for God's justice - and this is encouraging news for all those who could not find justice for their lives because the injustice was committed without witnesses.
Does God's omnipresence encourage or worry us? Maybe there are things we need to hand over to the Lord and stop doing. Let's remember that God does not condone sin, but at the same time has mercy for the sinner. If it were not so, none of us would be able to stand before Him.
Lord, today we are grateful for Your watchful eye that watches over us and everything around us. Help us so that our actions are pleasing to You more and more every day. Thank you for Your justice with which You judge and the infinite love with which You love.
