The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
I wonder how you are feeling about today? The start of a new year, a new decade; a decade that once seemed so far off to film-makers and sci-fi authors, one where technology was seen as so advanced that we might be flying around in individual vehicular!
Maybe you have hopes for what the next year or decade will hold, or perhaps you are disappointed that life has not quite turned out as you hoped it to. Maybe the future seems like a daunting blank canvas, or you are worried about making it through the next week, let alone the year ahead.
As children of God, there is nothing more sensible than to trust our futures into His hands. At the start of this new year, we want to refocus our attention on our Lord and Heavenly Father, seeking His wisdom for our lives. Today’s proverb is considered by many as the introduction to the whole book of Proverbs.
Will you let it be the introduction to your year?
Spend a few seconds searching your heart – where are you not trusting in God’s wisdom and instruction? Do you revere His ways? Or are your day-to-day decisions result from human fears?
Heavenly Father, at the start of this new year I choose to close my ears to the hustle and bustle of this world and be still before you. I submit my life to you again, trusting that your ways are better than mine. Help me open my heart to you, trusting that you will reveal your knowledge to me as I offer my life to you.
